AHO 3 Critical Situation

Collective mastery of demanding operations. Focusing on the many aspects of demanding operations such as weather conditions, operational complexities, ship and equipment (including failures / limitations etc), as well as human factors. (Prerequisite AHO 2).

Training for all involved in demanding situations and emergency drills.

This course is an offer to experienced offshore crewmembers who have joined AHO 2..

Scope

Collective Mastery of demanding operations. This course`s principal aim is to reduce the risk of accidents at sea with focus on causality prevention and human errors. Operational training in anchor handling focusing on both the individual and collective mastery of many aspects of demanding operations, such as external conditions ( weather, wind, current etc ), operational complexities, ship and equipment considerations, unexpected events, stressors and human factors.

Content

Theoretical lessons and practical simulator exercises as a learning tool to backup/illustrate the theory, performed on realistic deck and bridge facilities:

  • Man-machine interaction. Human factors in demanding anchor handling operations
  • Some scenarios of stressors in anchor handling operations
  • Individual and collective mastery of stressors in demanding anchor handling operations
  • To expect the unexpected. Focus on handling various sorts of unforeseen events
  • Decisiveness in demanding operations
  • When fatal accidents happens - a crisis perspective
  • Communication

Objective

  • To reduce the risk of accidents in demanding operations, focusing on casualty prevention
  • To improve the crew`s ability to handle difficult and complex operational challenges
  • Through case studies and theory, give the participants a knowledge of stressors in demanding anchor handling operations
  • To give the participants an awareness and experience of mastery of stressors in demanding anchor handling operations
