PSV 2 - Training for bridge and deck teams performing PSV operations
Admission Level
Offshore crewmembers with more than two years experience in maneuvering Offshore Supply Vessels.
Scope
Human factors account for approximately 80% of accidents. This course’s principal aim is to reduce the risk of accidents at sea with focus on casualty prevention and human error. Focusing on operation and team collaboration, communication, understanding of role, and coaching (sharing of knowledge), guided by best practice, operational guidelines and relevant theory to strengthen the crew’s performance towards safe and efficient operation.
Content
Theoretical lessons and practical simulator exercises as a learning tool to backup/illustrate the theory, performed on realistic deck and bridge facilities:
- Introduction, purpose and motivation
- Human factors:
- Communication, planning | Cooperation, leadership and team development | Coaching | Conflict management
- Importance of experience feedback and knowledge sharing
- NWEA Guidelines, Safe Management of Offshore Supply Vessels
- “Safe Job Analyzes” prior to simulation cases.
- Injury reports, accident , incidents, best practice
- Various Tasks with maneuvering operations
Objective
- To reduce the risk of accidents in the fleet, focusing on casualty prevention
- Through case studies and theory, make the participants aware of the human factors.
- To create awareness about the different areas of responsibility and working situations with regard to deck and bridge.
- To use the simulators to train and observe and ensure that the participants keep a high standard of competence within the CRM/BRM principles
Duration/Participants
3 days / 8 -12 persons, preferable complete crews.
