Island Offshore enters agreement with OSC for Crane Simulation
OSC has signed a contract with Island Offshore in Ulsteinvik, Norway for development and delivery of an advanced ship/offshore crane simulator.
The new simulator will be installed in Island Offshore´s offices in Ulsteinvik, Norway, and will be used for internal training of Island Offshore personnel.
The simulator will consist of a spherical “dome”-solution for the crane operator, two separate stations for deck personnel, and one instructor station.
As part of the contract, Island Offshore and OSC will cooperate to further extend and refine the functionality in the OSC crane simulator. Experienced crane drivers from Island Offshore will participate in the development process, ensuring that relevant scenarios and functionality is implemented based on actual requirements from modern offshore operations.
Earlier this year Island Offshore installed the OSC DP Visualization solution for internal DP training.
“Training of our crew is of outmost importance to Island Offshore, and we are now investing in modern simulator technology as part of our efforts to ensure that we are in the front line also in this area”, says Jan Rise, Administration & HR Manager at Island Offshore.
