Taking The Next Step: Simulating Integrated Operations

Together with Aalesund University College, OSC is pleased to invite to a seminar with demonstration of simulation of advanced offshore operations involving several offshore vessels. The demonstration will be based on simulating anchor handling operations involving two anchor handling vessels and one drilling rig, including rig crane and rig winch operations. Four different simulators will be connected via the Internet, and operations in all of them will be synchronized in real time such that all involved personnel can see and communicate with the other vessels involved in the operation.

Dete: Friday December 16th 2011 at 09:00-12:00.

Location: Aalesund University College (Høgskolen i Ålesund) - Fogdegården auditorium

Agenda (in Norwegian)

The purpose of the demonstration is to prove that it is now possible to extend the use of simulators to also include larger and more complex operations than done before. The technology developed by OSC makes it possible to connect and synchronize simulators independently of physical location of the simulators. OSC believes this is the first time ever anyone has demonstrated this type of offshore operation simulation across simulators located in several physical locations.

The demonstration will also show that a single instructor can control and coordinate simulator scenarios in several simulators, enabling more efficient use of resources for performing simulator based training.

The seminar will also include a presentation of the results from the 4-year research programme that was completed in 2011, aiming at developing better training arena for advanced offshore operations in extreme conditions (the “BIP-Extreme” project).

The simulation will be ongoing in parallel with several presentations in the auditorium. Via web-cameras the progress in the different simulators will be visible for the audience at all times, and the operation will be reviewed and commented at different intervals.

Don´t miss this opportunity to see for yourself how modern simulator technology can be used in a more advanced way than ever before!
