Crane Simulator to Rogaland Kranskole
OSC has signed a contract with Rogaland Kranskole to deliver an Offshore Crane Simulator solution.
The contract with Rogaland Kranskole includes a 6 meter diameter hemispherical dome for unprecedented simulation realizm, interfacing of a full-scale crane cabin (donated to Rogaland Kranskole by BP), two deck personnel stations and an instructor station.
The simulator is scheduled to be installed during Q1 2011, and will enable Rogaland Kranskole to offer the most advanced simulator based training available today.
The solution involves separate stations for banksmen/signalmen, allowing deck personnel to perform all relevant actions such as attaching/detaching of lifting gear, checking, giving visual signals to the crane driver, using a PC game-style user interface. This will enable Rogaland Kranskole to offer team-based training of offshore personnel in addition to the standard crane-driver training courses.
For OSC this contract marks the entrance into the offshore crane simulation market. This is a natural extension of the solutions for simulation of demanding offshore operations, enabling inclusion of fully functional crane simulation both in training cases for Platform Supply Vessels, Anchor Handling and Crane operations related to subsea operations.
Both Rogaland Kranskole and OSC intend to use this contract as the basis for a close cooperation within further development of training concepts for offshore lifting operations.
