OSC Offshore Simulator certified by DNV – as the World´s First
In June 2011 the OSC Offshore Simulator product was certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) to comply with requirements according to DNV “Class A Standard for Certification of Maritime Simulator Systems”.
The DNV standard is based on the requirements in the “STCW Convention”, an international certification standard for seafarers.
(STCW = Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping)
The OSC Offshore Simulator is being used for simulation of demanding offshore operations such as Anchor Handling and Platform Supply Vessel operations.
- This confirms our position as a leading vendor of advanced simulator solutions for the offshore industry. Our simulator is now complying with the demands for content, equipment and functionality according to DNV´s classification of maritime simulators, says Arne Monsholm, CEO of OSC.
- Since the start-up in 2004 we have invested several millions in development and research within simulator technology, and we see a large market potential for our solutions.
- Simulator training has proven to be a very efficient way to help improve safety for people working on-board offshore vessels. The actual effect of simulator training has been investigated through a number of research projects at the Aalesund University College, and the findings give very clear indications that the training has had a positive effect. We believe international demands for training of personnel will become more and more strict, and that simulator training will become obligatory for personnel involved in demanding offshore operations.
